Justin Kim Named MW Men's Golfer Of The Week

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV freshman Justin Kim has been selected as the Mountain West Men's Golfer of the Week for tournaments played March 6-11. This is the first career MW weekly accolade for Kim and the second of the year for the 16th-ranked Rebels.

Kim, from Fullerton, Calif., captured the first individual title of his collegiate career by one stroke, winning the Jackrabbit Invitational at Las Vegas' Siena Golf Club, March 10-11. He finished the two-day, 54-hole event at 13-under-par 203 (67-68-68).

During the final round, Kim recorded five birdies, including the tournament clincher on 18.

He also recorded a top-25 individual finish at the Southern Highlands Collegiate in Las Vegas, March 6-8. He tied for 25th (72-77-71=220, +4) in a field that featured six of the nation's top-10 teams and 10 ranked in the top 25.

UNLV has now played in eight tournaments during the 2016-17 season and has recorded a first, three seconds and third-place finish.

The Rebels will be back in action Saturday-Sunday, March 18-19, at The Thunderbird in Tempe, Ariz.
