Long-Requested Student Seating Location Change Coming To Runnin' Rebel Basketball

Student and band seating changes will add to home court advantage for UNLV; new Courtside Club location provides RAF Loyalty Circle members unique hospitality.

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Fans will notice several changes to seating locations at the Thomas & Mack Center for UNLV men's basketball games beginning with the 2019-20 season, including a greater student presence behind both baskets, the relocation of the student band and the introduction of the new Courtside Club, an area for Rebel Athletic Fund Loyalty Circle members. The previous area was at the top of the arena.

For many years, an auxiliary media section has been located behind the basket on the visitors' end of the court. That area will now be occupied by the school's pep band along with members of UNLV's student group, The Rebellion. Because the visiting team shoots free throws at that basket during the second half of games, the change will create an improved competitive advantage for the Runnin' Rebels.

The Courtside Club, a high-end hospitality area open to Loyalty Circle members, will be debuted in the lower part of sections 108, 109 and 110. There are several ways to become a Loyalty Circle Member, including purchasing season tickets in Lower Bowl 1 or Gucci Row.

"In meeting with and listening to our students throughout this past year, we wanted to showcase their energy and place them on both sides of the court," said UNLV Director of Athletics Desiree Reed-Francois. "Being in a special city like Las Vegas distinguishes UNLV nationally; our students bring a special element unique to UNLV within our great city. Additionally, in evaluating our fan surveys and other feedback, we consistently heard concerns about the visiting team shooting at the basket looking into the media section during the second half of our home games. These changes will improve our home court advantage and positively impact our fan experience as our extremely spirited students and band will have a greater impact on the game moving forward. We are also looking forward to opening the new Courtside Club area, which will provide a new level of high-end hospitality located very close to the court."

"The greatest student sections in the country are able to make a difference in the second half of games, and the new student section location will allow us to do exactly that," said Devin LeFave, President of The Rebellion. "We could not be more excited to be in a position to make a difference in games next season, and the fans in the Thomas & Mack Center should expect a new, re-engaged, student section."

Only 46 paid season tickets, representing 17 ticket purchasers are directly affected by these changes. Account holders have been communicated with and have been offered upgraded seat locations and enhanced parking at no additional charge.

Media previously located behind the basket will be moved to near the top of the lower bowl of the arena, directly across from the visitor's bench. The large student section (110, 111, 112) will mostly remain unchanged.
