Runnin' Rebel Series With Kansas State Announced

UNLV men's basketball will host defending Big 12 Champions this season and travel to Manhattan, Kansas, during the 2020-21 campaign.

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's basketball team will play Kansas State out of the Big 12 Conference in a home-and-home series beginning this season, the Athletics Department announced Friday.

The Runnin' Rebels, under first-year head coach T.J. Otzelberger, will host the Wildcats at the Thomas & Mack Center on Saturday, November 9, 2019, while the return game of the two-year series is scheduled for Kansas State's Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan, Kansas, on Saturday, December 5, 2020.

"This is an exciting series for us to announce against the reigning Big 12 regular season champions," said Marcus Bowman, UNLV Senior Associate Athletics Director. "Kansas State is a perennial NCAA Tournament team and this type of series with a highly successful program from an elite conference is a great addition as we work to enhance our schedule."




Kansas State finished the 2018-19 season ranked No. 19 in the country with an overall record of 25-9. The fourth-seeded Wildcats lost in the NCAA Tournament's first round to UC Irvine, but finished conference play as the Big 12's Co-Champions with a 14-4 league mark. It was the program's first regular-season conference title in six years and its second under head coach Bruce Weber.

UNLV is 4-2 all-time vs. Kansas State in men's basketball. The last meeting took place in 2010 at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri. The Runnin' Rebels won 63-59 over the then-No. 11 Wildcats. UNLV is 2-0 in true home games vs. Kansas State and 0-1 in true road games.
