LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – Season and single-match tickets for UNLV Volleyball are on sale, and fans can purchase them through UNLVtickets.com or by calling 702-739-FANS (3267).
Rebel volleyball will play 14 contests inside the Cox Pavilion, beginning with back-to-back tournaments over the third and fourth weekends of the season. The Scarlet & Gray open its home slate with the UNLV Invitational (Sept. 13-14) with matches against Idaho, Texas Tech and Pacific. The Rebel Challenge will take place the following week (Sept. 19-21) and feature Arizona State and Kansas.
UNLV hosts its first Mountain West match against Colorado State on Sept. 28. The remaining MW bouts will be played out over three homestands, starting with Utah State and Boise State visiting the Las Vegas Valley on Oct. 10 and Oct. 12, respectively. The Rebels stay home for a two-week stretch at the end of October with matches against New Mexico (Oct. 22), Air Force (Oct. 24) and Fresno State (Oct. 31), while a tilt against San Diego State (Nov. 2) closes out this lengthy run. The home portion of the team's regular season comes to an end two weeks later against UNR (Nov. 14) and San Jose State (Nov. 16).
Season tickets are $50 for adults (13 and older), and $40 for seniors, faculty and staff, and alumni.
Tickets for individual matches are $8 for adults and $6 for senior, faculty and staff. Additionally, fans that purchase tickets online up to three hours prior to first serve can get them for an advanced single-match price of $5. Tickets for groups of 15 or more are only $4 apiece.
All high school, middle school and elementary students are now free under UNLV's admission policy. To receive free admission, high school students must present a valid Nevada area school I.D. at the box office on match day to receive one (1) complimentary ticket. All other students will receive a complimentary ticket at the box office (no I.D. required). Kids not yet elementary age will continue to receive free admission for all UNLV Olympic sports.
PRESEASON TUNEUP: Prior to the start of the 2019 season, UNLV will trek to Flagstaff, Arizona, to scrimmage Northern Arizona on Aug. 24.
OPENING ON THE ROAD: UNLV will begin the 2019 campaign on the road with consecutive road tournaments in Ogden, Utah, and Irvine, California, respectively. The Rebels begin the season in the Beehive State (Aug. 30-31) against Weber State, Portland and CSUN, and then head to the Golden State (Sept. 6-7) to face UC Irvine, California and North Carolina.
RETURNING REBELS: UNLV returns 10 letterwinners from the 2018 squad, including five starters: Kate Brennan, Erin Davis, Mariena Hayden, Antonette Rolda and Jillian Berg.
LOOKING AHEAD: The Scarlet & Gray is coming off of a 22-win campaign in 2018, and a NIVC semifinal appearance. The Rebels, who closed out the year 22-12 overall and 10-8 (fifth) in the Mountain West, posted the largest improvement in NCAA Division I last season, winning 14 more matches than the year before.
UNLV ended 2018 ranked in the top 100 of eight different NCAA statistical categories: first in aces (251), third in aces per set (1.93), 38th in team kills (1,655), 61st in team assists (1,526); 66th in hitting percentage (.235), 67th in team total attacks (4,369), 80th in winning percentage (.647) and 99th in team digs (1,827).
Additionally, Hayden led the NCAA in aces (114) and aces per set (0.90), and finished the year second overall in points (690.0), fifth in points per set (5.43) and 10th in total kills (543). Hayden's 114 aces were not only a UNLV single-season record, but they were the third most recorded by an NCAA student-athlete since the 25-point scoring format was adopted in 2008.
