LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – Just days after helping the Rebels complete a season sweep of the Colorado State Rams, UNLV sophomore outside hitter
Shelby Capllonch was named the Mountain West's Defensive Player of the Week.
The Honolulu native was instrumental on both sides of the court; however, her defensive play stood out. Capllonch led the team defensively with 39 digs and a 5.57 digs per-set average, both of which were team highs. She also added three assisted blocks to go along with 25 kills off .293 hitting.
Capllonch recorded her third and fourth double-doubles on the year in Fort Collins, Colorado, off kill-dig combinations. She posted 11 kills and 12 digs in the first match, and 14 kills and a season- and career-high 27 digs in the second contest.
