Rebels Add Two More For 2021 Season

UNLV volleyball’s spring signing class includes a pair of outside hitters from Germany and Serbia.

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV volleyball program has received signed commitments from Isabel Martin and Milica Tasic to join the Rebels for the 2021-22 season, head coach Dawn Sullivan announced.

Martin is a transfer from Hillsborough Community College, while Tasic played club volleyball in Serbia for Crvena Zvezda (Red Star).

A 5-11 outside hitter, originally from Mauerstetten, Bavaria, Germany, Martin played her freshman and sophomore seasons at HCC. During the 2020-21 campaign, she earned DI Florida College System Activities Association Athletics (FCSAA) All-State and National Junior College Athletic Association All-Region VIII honors. As a freshman in 2019, was selected the DI FCSAA's Ilida Medero Award recipient (Player of the Year) and was chosen to the DI FCSAA All-State and All-Tournament Teams as well as the All-Suncoast Conference First Team.

During Martin's two years at HCC the Lady Hawks won 41 matches and posted a sixth-place finish at the 2019 NJCAA DI Championships to close out a 32-10 season. She played in a total of 59 matches and 200 sets, and registered 857 kills (4.29 kps) with a .295 hitting efficiency and 542 digs (2.17 dps). She recorded 27 double-doubles, and notched double figures in kills and digs a total of 49 and 27 times, respectively.

Tasic, a 6-2 outside hitter from Belgrade, Serbia, attended Sportska Gimnazija. She has suited up for Crvena Zvezda, and has represented Serbia on the international stage.

Most recently, Tasic helped her club team to a third-place finish in the Serbian Super League and runner-up showing in the Serbian Cup during the 2018-19 campaign. In 2017-18, the squad finished second in both the Serbian National Cup and Serbian National Championship.

As a member of the national team, she helped Serbia to runner-up finishes at the U18 European Championships and U20 European Championships.

In November, the Rebels signed Keyana Cruse (Bonner Springs, Kansas/Bonner Springs HS), Dakota Quinlan (Cerritos, California/Valley Christian HS), Livvy Setla (Northville, Michigan/Northville HS), VaiLin Tagaloa (North Las Vegas/Shadow Ridge HS) and Chloe Thomas (Allen, Texas/Allen HS).

REBEL NOTES:
-UNLV concluded the season 13-1 overall and in the Second Round of the 2020 NCAA Volleyball Championship. The Rebels defeated Illinois State, 3-1, in the First Round before they suffered a 3-0 defeat to No. 2 Kentucky in the Second Round.
-UNLV won the Spring 2021 Mountain West regular-season title (12-0) and claimed the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Volleyball Championship.
-UNLV's 13-0 start to the season – following the NCAA Tournament win over Illinois State – not only marked the best opening to a campaign in program history, but it also rewrote the program record for longest win streak.
-Dating back to the 2019 campaign, UNLV has now won 29 of its last 32 matches – the best run through 32 matches in program history.
-Mariena Hayden was named an AVCA All-America Honorable Mention and was selected to the AVCA's Pacific South All-Region Team, too, after being chosen the Mountain West's Player of the Year.
-UNLV was well represented on the Spring 2021 All-MW Team, in addition to Hayden's MW's Player of the Year nod.
