Rebels Earn No. 3 Overall Seed for Postseason NISC

UNLV faces the winner of Tarleton State vs. North Alabama Saturday

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) — UNLV is the No. 3 overall seed for the National Invitational Softball Championship to be held in Fort Collins, Colo., tournament officials announced Sunday.

The 12-team Postseason NISC tournament runs May 20 through May 26 at TC Colorado Field. The top four seeds have a first-round bye for the double-elimination tournament. The final four teams play in a championship series over the final two days.

All games of the 2022 NISC will be streamed live on FloSoftball.com.

Virginia claimed the top seed for the NISC. Baylor is the No. 2 seed and No. 4 is Central Arkansas.

UNLV (39-13 overall, 17-7 Mountain West) earned its highest win total since 2005 and best winning percentage (not counting the COVID-19 shortened 2020 season) since 1995. The Rebels finished third in the Mountain West standings after claiming all but one conference series.

Teams had to have an RPI in the national top 100 or have a winning record if its RPI was greater than 100. Conference record, results against the RPI Top 50, last 10 games, notable wins, upset losses and player injuries also were taken into consideration.

The NISC began in 2017 and ran through 2019 before going on hiatus because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
