LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV Director of Athletics Erick Harper announced a new Strategic Plan for Athletics, which is aimed at delivering a premier student-athlete experience in college athletics and providing Rebels the opportunity to succeed as students, athletes and into the future as well-rounded community leaders.
In alignment with the broader UNLV Top Tier 2.0 Strategic Plan, the Athletics Department worked in tandem with the University to develop a clear strategy for achieving athletic and academic excellence. Through careful research and valuable feedback from student-athletes, coaches, alumni, donors, UNLV students, faculty, industry experts and media professionals, every component of the UNLV Strategic Plan for Athletics aims toward moving forward – together.
"The Athletics Strategic Plan is an important step in aligning UNLV's athletic and academic goals and serves as a roadmap to help our student-athletes achieve success on campus and beyond," UNLV President Keith E. Whitfield said. "I want to thank A.D. Harper and his team for their work on this plan, which will benefit UNLV Athletics, our student-athletes, and our fans and supporters for years to come."
The Strategic Plan is broken down into six core areas:
-
Student-Athlete Development
-
Athletic Excellence
-
Model Enterprise
-
Fan Experience
-
Community Relationships
-
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging
Each core area consists of specific objectives that set forth quantifiable goals and necessitates consistent action by every department. The strategic plan is intended to bring UNLV into the future as a proactive and innovative leader in both education and athletics.
"We spent a lot of time working with a diverse group of people and we appreciate everyone who provided input," Harper said. "It was important to engage not only our staff, but also our colleagues on campus as well as community stakeholders. We are excited about the strategic plan that has been created as our focus shifts toward executing it and making UNLV Athletics the best that it can be."
