LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV women's track and field freshman Rosa Santana has been named the Raising Cane's Outstanding Rebel of the Week, the school announced Thursday.

The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition from Monday through Sunday as voted on by the UNLV Athletics Strategic Communications department.

Santana, a Dominican Republic native, broke her previous program record set at the UNM Team Open (17.53m) in the women's shot put with a mark of 17.93m (58-10.0) to close out the Don Kirby Invitational. Santana finished second, coming less than two meters behind Jorinde Van Klinken from the University of Oregon.
