LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV cross country team will travel to the Golden State for UC Riverside's Highlander Invitational Saturday. The Rebels will run in the women's 6K (8:40 am), which is being contested at the Ag Ops Course on the campus of UCR in Riverside, California.
The Scarlet & Gray will compete against 16 California squads - Cal State Fullerton, Cal State San Marcos, CBU, Chapman, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, CSUN, Pepperdine, Pomona-Pitzer, San Diego, San Diego State, The Master's, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, UC San Diego, USC and Vanguard. Additionally, UNLV will compete against five Arizona schools - Arizona, Arizona State, Grand Canyon, Mesa CC and Paradise Valley, along with one Florida school (Embry-Riddle), one Utah school (Utah Tech), one Oregon school (Southern Oregon) and Hawai'i.
The Rebels will be represented by Taryn Bailey, Taylor Gauthier, Aine McDade, Kimberly Ovadia, Claire Rands, Reagan Reed, Alana Sangprasit, Angelina Vasquez and Autumn Viscardo.
Saturday's race will serve as the final tune-up for the Rebels before the Mountain West Championships in Fresno, California on Oct. 1.
LAST TIME OUT: UNLV ran at the UC Riverside Invitational and saw Rands and Sangprasit guide the Scarlet & Gray with personal-best times in the 5K, with the former running 18:41.9 and the latter 18:43.3.
