Snitari Rolls Into Semifinals

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV sophomore Ilia Snitari, top seeded and ranked 83rd nationally, won in straight sets Saturday to move into the semifinals of the Mountain West Men's Tennis Fall Qualifier being staged at the Darling Tennis Center.

Snitari defeated Utah State's Xavier Calvelo, 7-5, 6-2, in the quarterfinals while UNLV's other remaining player, Vitaliy Horovoy, fell to Avery Tallakson of Boise State, 6-1, 6-3. Horovoy came back in consolation play to down Carson Baker of Boise State, 7-5, 6-2.

In the second year of this new championship format, each NCAA Division 1 AQ-eligible conference will host a tournament to designate one singles player and one doubles pair on both the men's and women's side to represent them in the ITA Conference Masters tournament, which is one of four qualifying pathways to this year's NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships.
