LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV Volleyball team swept the Old Trapper Women's Volleyball Players of the Week following the third week of the 2025 season, the conference announced on Monday. Alondra Alarcon was named the Offensive Player of the Week, Rheanna Deen-Jackson was named the Defensive Player of the Week and Kaia Thiele was named the Freshman of the Week after the Rebels went 2-1 in the Oregon State hosted ASICS Invitational. This is the first time UNLV swept the MW Players of the Week since the 2020 season, the final season of the two-player format (Mariena Hayden, Offensive; Shelby Capllonch, Defensive).
Alarcon averaged 4.45 points per set (44.5 total points) to go along with 38 kills (3.8 k/set), 23 digs (2.3 d/set) and hit .250 overall. The Lima, Peru native recorded double-digit kills in back-to-back matches against Montana State (14) and Oregon State (15). Against UC Irvine, she tallied nine kills on .350 hitting, adding five digs and scored nine points to help the Rebels record a sweep. Alarcon turned in her most efficient outing of the weekend against the Bobcats, delivering 14 kills without an error on .636 hitting, while also recording nine digs, two service aces and 16.0 points in another sweep. She capped the weekend against the Beavers, leading the team with 15 kills, nine digs and three block assists, finishing with 19.5 points.
Deen-Jackson averaged two blocks per set (20 total blocks) and notched a .900 serving efficiency. The sophomore middle blocker hit .571 with four kills, while adding one assist, four service aces (all in the first set), six blocks (five block assists, one solo) and 11.5 points in the Rebels' sweep of UC Irvine. Against Montana State, she recorded eight kills on .533 hitting, two assists, one dig and one block for 8.5 points in another 3-0 victory. She wrapped up the weekend at Oregon State with two kills, one dig, and a career-high 13 blocks (11 block assists, two solo blocks) finishing with 9.5 points.
Thiele averaged 5.9 assists per set (59 total assists) and 2.1 digs per set (21 total digs). The freshman setter dished out 13 assists, added a service ace and four digs in a sweep of UC Irvine. In a sweep of Montana State, the San Antonio, Texas native finished with 22 assists and 11 digs, both career-highs, for a double-double, the team's first double-double of the season, along with one kill. Thiele recorded another career-high 24 assists with six digs.
UNLV returns to Las Vegas and The Pavilion for its Dig In The Desert as they will welcome UC Riverside and Southern Utah for the three-day affair Sept. 18-20.
