Ilia Snitari has been named the Mountain West Men's Tennis Player of the Week while rookie
Marko Maksimovic is the Freshman of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.
Snitari, a native of Moldova, is now 17-1 on the season and 25-1 as a Rebel after dispatching USC's top player, Nathan Trouve, 6-4, 6-1 on Sunday in Los Angeles. In doubles, he and partner Adra Karakas downed Andrin Casanova and Jack McCarthy 7-5 at the top of the lineup.
An All-American who is ranked 44th in the nation, Snitari earned his second player of the week nod this season and third of his career.

The native of Belgrade, Serbia, then breezed by McCarthy at the No. 2 singles spot, 6-4, 6-3, to give his team another point. UNLV, which led USC 3-2 before falling 4-3, scored its most team points against the 21-time national champions in 18 all-time meetings.
The Rebels next host Idaho State on Friday starting with doubles play at 10 a.m. Admission to all matches at the Fertitta Tennis Complex is free of charge.
