Runnin' Rebels Travel To Boise State For Friday Night Game

UNLV has won two in a row; 8 p.m. MT/7 p.m. PT game to be televised nationally on FS1.

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's basketball team will travel to Boise State for a game on Friday, Feb. 13. The 8 p.m. MT/7 p.m. PT contest will be televised nationally on FS1.

After dropping four straight games, the Runnin' Rebels (12-12, 7-6) have won two straight: an 80-78 win over Grand Canyon on Saturday, and an 82-75 victory against San Jose State on Tuesday night. Both of those contests were at home for UNLV. The Runnin' Rebels led by as many as 16 points against the Antelopes, with Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn leading the way by scoring a game-high 29 points. Against the Spartans, UNLV led by as many as 13. Gibbs-Lawhorn and Kimani Hamilton combined to score 47 in that game, with Gibbs-Lawhorn again leading the way with 24 points. He has scored 20+ in four straight games and six of the last seven.

The Runnin' Rebels are averaging 78.9 points per game and have five players averaging 9.5 points per game or more: Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn (18.7 ppg, 1st in MW), Kimani Hamilton (12.2 ppg), Tyrin Jones (10.7 ppg), Issac Williamson (10.0 ppg), and Howie Fleming Jr. (9.5 ppg). Jones hurt his shoulder in the first two minutes of the Jan. 27 game vs. New Mexico and did not return. He missed three games (at UNR, at Fresno State, vs. Grand Canyon) before returning against SJSU, while Fleming Jr. was out vs. Grand Canyon with an ankle injury, also returning to play against the Spartans. Jacob Bannarbie leads the team in rebounds at 5.7 rpg, while Fleming Jr. leads in assists at 3.1 apg. Gibbs-Lawhorn is the team's steals leader at 1.6 spg (5th in MW), while Jones leads in blocks at 2.0 bpg (1st in MW, 31st nationally).

The Runnin' Rebels are in their first year under head coach Josh Pastner. Although new to UNLV, he is in his 15th year as a collegiate head coach, having previously led Memphis and Georgia Tech for seven seasons each. He holds a career record of 288-199 (.591).

UNLV's roster has only one returning player, Jacob Bannarbie, and has welcomed 13 new faces. The newcomers include eight Division I transfers, a former international professional, a junior college transfer, and three freshmen.

MORE ABOUT THE ROSTER: This season's UNLV squad, which has had to deal with a rash of injuries, returned just one player from 2024-25: redshirt sophomore forward Jacob Bannarbie. The 2025-26 roster added 13 newcomers - eight Division I transfers, a former international professional, a junior college transfer, and three freshmen. The team features four seniors, three juniors, three sophomores, and three freshmen, with a position breakdown of seven guards, six forwards, and a center. Last season, Bannarbie appeared in 19 games (three starts), averaging 1.6 points and 1.8 rebounds in 6.6 minutes, and shooting 52.9% from the field on 17 attempts.

ABOUT BOISE STATE: The Broncos (15-9, 7-6) have won six of their last seven after suffering an overtime loss at UNLV (89-85) on Jan. 13. Boise State is led in scoring by Drew Fielder (13.5 ppg) and Dylan Andrews (12.3 ppg). Fielder is the team's leading rebounder with 5.4 rpg, while Andrews leads in assists at 3.4 apg (7th in MW). The Broncos are 9-3 at home this season. Boise State ranks 35th in the nation in rebound margin at 6.3. The Broncos were picked to finish third in the Mountain West's preseason poll. Andrew Meadow was named to the Preseason All-MW team. Boise State's 15-man roster is made up of eight upperclassmen. The Broncos went 26-11 overall last season, finishing tied for fourth in the MW at 14-6. They played in the College Basketball Crown, advancing to the semifinals. Head coach Leon Rice is in his 16th season as a collegiate head coach, all with Boise State, with a career record of 331-186 (.640).

LAST TIME VS. BOISE STATE: In this season's first meeting between the teams on Jan. 13 in Las Vegas, Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn scored a career-high 33 points with a career-high-tying six assists in UNLV's 89-85 overtime win. The 33 points marked the highest individual scoring total in a game by a UNLV player since EJ Harkless had 35 points in the 2023 Mountain West Tournament. The game featured an incredible 18 lead changes and 19 ties. Although the turnovers were fairly even, with Boise State committing 15 and UNLV 13, the Runnin' Rebels scored 29 points off turnovers, while Boise State managed just 12.
