LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men's tennis team remained undefeated at home this season with a 4-2 victory over Big 12 Conference foe Utah on a breezy Sunday afternoon at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
 
The Rebels remained perfect in six outings at home in 2026 to improve to 8-4 overall while the Utes fell to 3-9.
 
The hosts took a key 1-0 lead by taking the point in an intense session of doubles. Illia Maksymchuk and Marko Maksimovic won 7-5 at the top spot over Dante Terarno and Balthazar Huss before the other two matches when to a tiebreaker. Utah won 7-6 on court three but Michael Kouame and Taiyo Hirano fought off Emmett Potter and Lorenzo Esquici, 7-6, at No. 2 to secure the point.
 
In singles, All-American Snitari improved to an eye-popping 21-2 this season with a quick 6-2, 6-1 victory over Teramo at the No. 1 position. UNLV's other points came from Vitialy Horovoy, 6-3, 6-1 over Charles Frey at No. 4, and Hirano, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 over Huss on court five to clinch it.  
 
REBEL OF THE MATCH: Hirano, a grad student transfer who recently returned to the Rebel lineup, contributed to the team's doubles win and then turned in a gritty, match-sealing performance in singles play for his first victory in duals this semester.
 
UP NEXT: UNLV will play a rare mid-week match on Wednesday March 11 by hosting Gonzaga from the West Coast Conference. Doubles play starts things off at 3 p.m. Admission to all matches at the Fertitta Tennis Complex is free of charge.
