BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) — The UNLV men's soccer team (2-1-0) jumped to a first-half lead it never relinquished en route to a 2-1 win over CSU Bakersfield (1-1-1) on Saturday night at CBU Main Soccer Field.
The Rebels netted their goals within a two-minute span early as senior forward
Nick Legendre scored in the 16th minute and senior defender
Mikah Madrid found the back of the net in the 18th minute. CSUB tacked on a 40th-minute goal, but the Rebels turned away any potential equalizer chances.
STAT OF THE GAME: Senior goalkeeper
Hugo Lemos and the Scarlet & Gray backline deterred 18 shots on the night after facing a flurry of 19 Roadrunner shots, including 11 shot attempts in the second half. Lemos finished with six saves credited to his name, as well as an assist alongside freshman
Thomas Gulbrandsen on Legendre's opening goal. A team save was also credited to UNLV's defensive unit.
With the victory, the Rebels handed the first loss of the season to a CSUB squad that came off a draw against No. 17 UCLA in its previous match.

UP NEXT: UNLV will play its second of three consecutive matches in the Golden State at LMU on Wednesday, Sept. 2.
NOTES:
- The collective team effort included 19 different players logging double-digit minutes on the pitch
- UNLV posted season highs with 10 total shot attempts and five shots on goal in the match
- It was the second time the Rebels scored multiple goals in a match this season through their three contests. Each of those occurences has resulted in a victory.
