Volleyball Falls To San Diego State

LAS VEGAS - The UNLV Volleyball team fell to San Diego State on Saturday 3-0 (15-13, 16-14, 15-2) in the Thomas and Mack Center. The loss drops the Rebels' record to 1-13 overall, 1-4 in the Mountain West Conference. San Diego State improves to 9-9 overall, 3-2 in the MWC.

Amber Graham led the team with 18 kills, hitting .333 (18-5-39) on the night. She also finished with eleven digs and five blocks, two solo and three assisted.

Leiana Oswald also played well for the Rebels, adding ten digs, nine kills and four blocks, one solo and three assisted.

Patricia Assuncao and Christina Kirschner each knocked down eight kills. Assuncao also added eight digs and two block assists.

Maria Julia Goes handled the majority of the setter duties for the Rebels and finished the night with 35 assists, while Ana Ramos led the defensive effort with 16 digs.

San Diego State was led by Amy Hallquist's 17 kills and 14 digs.

"We went up on (San Diego State) in the first two games," said Amber Graham, "but we relaxed and allowed them to get back into the game. We really need to focus and help each other out."

The Rebels hit the road next weekend for a pair of Mountain West matches. UNLV takes on Colorado State on Oct. 13 and Wyoming on Oct. 14. Both matches are set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
