GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The UNLV volleyball team opened its season with two losses at the SunTrust Invitational at Stephen C. O'Connell Center Friday.
No. 9 Florida (2-2) defeated the Rebels 15-2, 15-8, 15-5, in the first match. Florida's Nicole McCray and Jerilyn Hattendorf led all players with 11 kills and 8 digs, respectively. Jacque Robinson added 7 kills with 0 errors in 10 attempts for a .700 hitting percentage.
The Rebels were led by Leiana Oswald's 9 kills. Oge Fitz added 8 kills and a team-high 7 digs for UNLV.
In its second match, UNLV was defeated by No. 16 Wisconsin (2-0) 15-5, 15-0, 15-1. Wisconsin's Jenny Maastrict and Sherisa Livingston each recorded a match-high 11 kills.
UNLV was led by Blair Wilkes' 5 kills. Ana Ramos added a team-high 7 digs.
The Rebels (0-2) conclude play in the Invitational on Saturday when they face Ball State (0-2).
