Volleyball Falls To Conference Rival New Mexico

LAS VEGAS - The UNLV volleyball team fell to New Mexico 3-0 (15-11, 15-11, 15-9) Thursday at the Thomas & Mack Center. With the loss, UNLV falls to 0-12 on the season, 0-3 in the Mountain West Conference. New Mexico improves to 6-6, 2-0 in the MWC.

Patricia Assuncao led UNLV with 13 kills for a .159 (13-6-44) attack percentage. She also added 12 digs and a pair of blocks, one solo and one assisted. Leiana Oswald finished with eleven kills and a team-high 15 digs. She also led the team in attack percentage at .265 (11-2-34).

Maria Julia Goes handled the setter duties for the Rebels, finishing with 37 assists. She also had three service aces and four digs.

Blair Wilkes knocked down nine kills and two block assists, while Oge Fitz and Amber Graham added five kills each.

"We are playing games to eleven, but just not finishing," said UNLV head coach Deitre Collins. "Hopefully, tomorrow we can finish better."

New Mexico was led by Jessie Goffard's 15 kills and 18 digs.

UNLV continues its home stand with a 7:00 p.m. match against Air Force in the Lied Gymnasium Friday.
