SALT LAKE CITY - The UNLV volleyball team fell short in its bid to win four straight, losing to No. 22 Utah 3-0 (21-30, 22-30, 15-30) on Saturday night at the Utes Crimson Court. With the loss, The Rebels fall to 7-15 on the season, 3-6 in Mountain West Conference play. The Utes have won 28 consecutive matches at home and improve to 16-6 on the season, 6-3 in league play.
UNLV was out-blocked 16-5 and out-hit .287 to .049 in the match. Sarah Fachner led the Rebels with six kills and two block assists.
Shannon Chase tallied five kills and one dig in the match. Patricia Assuncao, Leiana Oswald and Blair Wilkes contributed four kills each. Oswald and Wilkes also added six digs.
Christina Kirschner knocked down four kills and four blocks.
UNLV returns home next weekend for a pair of matches against Colorado State on Friday and Wyoming on Saturday.
