Las Vegas - UNLV suffered a difficult three-game loss to Fresno State on Friday afternoon at the Fresno State Invitational, losing in three games by a combined seven points, 27-30, 28-30 and 28-30.
The Rebels split their matches Friday in the invitational, beating Oral Roberts 3-2 in a five-game match earlier in the day.
Maria Aladjova and Mariana Pencheva each had 12 kills for the Rebels and kept UNLV within striking distance. Aladjova had her best hitting performance percentage-wise as a Rebel with a career-high .435 hitting percentage. Nicki King had 39 assists for the Rebels and Jada Walker added 17 digs for the Rebel defense.
One of the deciding factors in the close match came at the net, where the Bulldogs out-blocked the Rebels 10 to 5 on the night.
Tuli Peters had a double-double with 14 kills and 12 digs for the Bulldogs. Christianna Reneau added 12 kills and Ilima Sam Fong had 36 assists.
