Final Stats

LAS VEGAS - UNLV (0-2) dropped its second match of the season and of the Fremont Investment & Loan Invitational Saturday morning against the tournament host, Cal State Northridge (1-1). After dropping the first game of the match, the Rebels rebounded to take games two and three, but eventually fell in the final two games. The individual game scores were 28-30, 30-25, 30-221, 26-30, 7-15.

Each attacking Rebel hit in positive figures as compared to Friday night's match versus 23rd-ranked Saint Mary's (Calif.). UNLV hit .241 against the Matadors as opposed to the .081 against the Gaels. The Matadors hit in positive numbers in every game, while UNLV went below .000 only in the fifth and final game (-.056).

Lauren Miramontes led all players with 23 kills. Miramontes had 10 errors in a match-high 50 total attempts for a hitting percentage of .260. Michelle Banks notched 20 kills and had a hitting percentage of .312. Banks' hitting percentage was tops on the UNLV squad. Maria Aladjova rounded out the UNLV attackers with double-digits kills. Aladjova registered 10. Setter Melody Nua helped her attackers to a match-high 54 assists. Libero Jada Walker recorded a 23 digs.

Matador players Jenn Probert and Kelly Zabielski had 15 kills apiece to .300 and .273 hitting percentages, respectively. Val Kepler had a match-high .545 hitting percentage, as she had 13 kills and one error in 22 total attempts. Setter Kayla Wright recorded 43 assists in the win, while libero Jamie Crawford had 27 digs.

Next up for the Rebels is its final match of the Invitational at 5 pm, versus the Arizona State Sun Devils. ASU holds a 1-1 record on the season and in the Invitational. On Friday, the Sun Devils lost their first match to Saint Mary's (Calif.) and rebounded from a two-game deficit to defeat Cal State Northridge.
